SCIENCE AND SOCIETY SEMINARS CONTINUE TO WOW ATTENDEES

Science and Society Panel Discussion on Climate Change Attended by over 80 George Mason University Faculty and Students!

A very sucessful panel seminar on Climate Change was held Dec. 7th in the Johnson Center Cinema and attended by over 80 Mason students and faculty. The three distinguished Mason panelists included:

    Prof. Jagadish Shukla, Chair of the Department of Climate Dynamics and member of the Nobel prize winning Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change
    Prof. Ed Maibach, Director of the Center of Excellence in Climate Change Communication Research, and
    Michael Shank, Government Relations Advisor at Mason's Institute for Conflict Analysis and Resolution

Questions addressed during the seminar included:

    "What is our understanding of the problem of Climate Change and what will scientists be working on in the future?"
    "How do we continue to engage the public in climate change issues?" and
    "What are the inherent political conflicts and how can they be resolved?"

The presentations by the panelists lasted a little over 50 minutes leaving plenty of time for questions from the live audience as well as those attending via Webcast.
